The Scientist - Coldplay

This extract has been on my Friendster profile for a at least 2 years already...but i thought i would post it here today.

Walk with me, hand in hand through the neon and styrofoam. Walk the razor blades and the broken hearts. Walk the fortune and the fortune hunted. Walk the chop suey bars and the tract of stars.

I know I am a fool, hoping dirt and glory are both a kind of luminous paint; the humiliations and exaltations that light us up. I see like a bug, everything too large, the pressure of infinity hammering at my head. But how else to live, vertical that I am, pressed down and pressing up simultaneously?

I cannot assume you will understand me. It is just as likely that as I invent what I want to say, you will invent what you want to hear. Some story we must have. Stray words on crumpled paper. A weak signal into the outer space of each other.

The probability of separate worlds meeting is very small. The lure of it is immense. We send starships. We fall in love.

Lazy weekend....no fireworks, just food
On Friday, i did the most unbelievable thing ever - I survived a day without a handphone.

It might not sound like a big deal, you might not think it's a big deal, but wow, it is a really big deal. it is only today that i have realised how obsolete public call phones have become in Singapore. I was scouring the whole of NUS for a pay phone, found one at AS3 but there was a huge study bench plonked right in front of it and i doubt it was working. Are handphones a "culture" in Singapore? Yes, apparently it is very much so because this Canadian exchange student was telling me that he only got one when he came to singapore and that Canadians don't want to associate themselves with handphones because that's not how they want to keep in touch.

Anyway it was rather unnerving. i was suddenly cut off from the world. i didnt know how to contact anyone anymore...eventually some very nice Eusoffian lent me her phone so i could make a call to arrange a spot to meet Nic after school...

Bumped into Rox while on my way to look for Sharon so we had indonesian food for lunch and then went to the central library so rox could get some books. i for one, have still NO CLUE how to navigate the NUS library. Give me a call number and i'll get lost. The last time i tried to hunt down a book, i made my way to the Chinese Library and then ended up at Yusof Ishak House which is at the farrrrr end of the campus. i wasnt even near the Central Library anymore!!

ok so anyway, this is a wordy post. Forgot to bring my handphone, also forgot to bring my camera obviously. what was i so preoccupied with that morning, i have no idea...

Red Lawry, Yellow Lawry. (say it 10 times fast)

Went to Lawry's for lunch because my sister passed me a 1-for-1 coupon. Eek, after Morton's, Lawry's was so unimpressive, borderline bad. (ALL PHOTOS FROM ONLINE SITES)

They had some supposedly very fascinating Spinning Bowl Salad where, they er, spin a bowl of lettuce and other produce in another ice bowl and the waitress does this "impressive" flick of a wrist and pours the salad sauce in teh terik style while the Spinning Bowl is, WOAAHHH SPPPIINNNIINNNGG!

And they give you a 'chilled fork' to eat your salad with which imo is like so redundant...i mean, the chilled fork must be magic, the salad tasted great as the cold tips touched my tongue.

wow this is a bad picture. The salad was the best part of the meal. Picture from here

Their uniforms..their earthy brown uniforms with super short skirts and white trainers. And then there's that weird white contraception behind their head which is attached to this hairband like thingamajig that reaches up till their temples. At this point, they look like they are trying to be kinky nurses in very ugly brown uniform, or like tabby cats with 2 white triangular ears sticking out from behind. (see picture below) very unflattering and it looked like one of those cosplay cafes

aiyo so sweet! even got a heart floating above their heads...

Anyway, Morton's staff definitely a whole lot more eloquent than them. A lot more well dressed, more attentive, more poised, more classy... More of everything. (no im not being biased)

AND i think they were renovating the inner area that day but we had to sit in the same room as the toilet which was not discreet at all. WHAT BAD AMBIANCE.

The beef is served with mash potatoes on the side which were tasteless. KFC's mash potatoes are nicer. You also get Yorkshire pudding also. That was nice.

Now the beef...hmm, what can i say...tasted normal. I didnt get the same "melt in your mouth" experience i had with Morton's. Nic and i had the Lawry's cut. He had it medium rare and i had mine medium well done. They serve it with this brown sauce which, without, was dry, not succulent and not flavorful.

You know what they say, if you got to take it with sauce, it cant be that good. That's why French chefs get insulted if you ask for Ketchup at their restaurants.

NOW PLEASE COMPARE THAT PIECE ABOVE FROM LAWRY's, TO THE PIECE BELOW FROM MORTON'S. Both cooked medium rare.

yuck. i am almost sure you do not want to waste your money eating at Lawry's already.

so on my hunt for Lawry pictures i found this review by Ben Gowrie's wife and it's sooo funny! you can read the whole thing here. Here are excerpts.

This is the stupidest restaurant ever. Go to Black Angus instead.

I'm Ben's wife, prompted by my extreme irritation with this ridiculous establishment to write a review.

I had not been to Lawry's for years and had forgotten how stupid I found it, I really regret my short memory as I have wasted nearly 200 bucks and an hour of my life on a recent lunch time....

.......You are however obliged to have that "famous spinning salad". Ok, I will grant you, it is very tasty but why oh why do they insist on faffing about tossing it at your table. It is the most pointless exercise - they could do it in the kitchen. IT IS JUST A SALAD!.....

If not for the 1-for-1 coupon, the steak alone would have been $79.90 each ++ (or $159.80++ for 2) whereas at Morton's, the steak alone was $95++ (for 2) and it was a huge slab Nic and I could barely finish.

So my verdict at the end of the day, is very obviously Morton > Lawry. Maybe now we should try Black Angus hahah! (i think secretly i am making Nic my guinea pig for food escapades)

anyway the next day we got lazy and stayed in, ordered KFC at 12 midnight and stuffed our faces with deep fried chicken wings and popcorn chicken, dunking them into copious amounts of processed ketchup. It felt just like the good ole lazy days we spent together watching tv and being bums. AND, the meal was delicious. :)

I forgot to bring my eZlink card today of all days. That left me scrambling for coins. And, i have not woken up within 6am for almost 4 years. That's a long sabbath to start again.

after th 14hour long day, you'ld think i'll sleep early, but i didnt hit the sheets till 2am even though i think i was really tired. Some part of me feels that if i stay awake, maybe time will past faster and tomorrow will come.

I think sleeping is a waste of time. I have something against people who list sleeping as one of their hobbies. I mean, geez. is that not a great way to waste your life away? Think of all the things you're missing out on! This is why sloth is one of the 7 deadly sins ok.

Monday, Sharon and i went to Vivocity our lecture ended at 4. we scoured Giant to get curtains for Sharon's room which i randomly bought a pack of envelopes and a pack of dog food. Then we went to Daiso where apparently Sharon has spent $94 at one go. She kept leaning over my shoulder to warn me that "Daiso secretly takes all your money..." in a sheepish voice. I bought a bunch of stuff including a weekly organizer!

VERY CUTE! Ladybugs and clovers design at only $2!

The Olympic Movement
The past few weeks of Olympic triumphs and defeats have been nothing short of awe inspiring and tear jerking. We see athletes overcome their fear and insecurities, push through mental barriers and overcome physical hurdles. They have rewritten history by smashing old world records and proving that the impossible is nothing. They are the closest we will ever come to having a Superhero and we must be proud of them. Nations spend millions of dollars training top sports people and importing foreign talent when their soils runs dry. Everybody goes to the Olympics in hopes that they can bring back a medal, for themselves, for the country, for the nation.

They go through intense training and suffer. They push themselves to the limit and take their bodies (and elbows) to places they have never gone before.

Micheal Phelps is now nothing short of the world's Greatest Olympian with 8 swimming golds under his belt. He has taken the world by storm isn't ready to stop.

http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/03acda8aZIcxr/610x.jpg

And then there's Singpaore's Tao Li. The first ever Singaporean swimmer to enter the olympic finals despite being the shortest swimmer among all competitors. We are proud of her, she must be proud of her achievements too.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/mihirbose/ub446.jpg

He's now touted as the fastest man on earth, Usain Bolt sent shockwaves as he smashed his old world record and wrote a new one for the man's 100m sprint. And all that while, could you believe that he slowed down to thump his chest which bore his nation's flag before crossing the finishing line.

Is this the true moment we won the silver?

And who can forget our wonderful Table Tennis team who ended the 48 year medal drought for Singapore and finally brought home a medal! The match was so crazy i nearly had a heart attack several times. The ball was flying back and forth and back and forth and wooaahhhh. killerrr..

Anyway the pics were from when Singapore torched Korea. Our team had to wear this sickly shade of, er vomit green to play against China that looked so last minute and ugly even CNA doesn't want to put up pictures of it. It looked like the corrective work order vest actually, just not luminous.

The image “http://www.stta.org.sg/profiles/images/pic_jiawei.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

random, but here is Li Jia Wei looking very glam.

There are happy, glorious stories, but then, there is The flip side - of course there's always one.

http://whitneymcd7.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/beijing-olympics-2008.jpg
The Olympics was "established by Pierre de Coubertin, the goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practised without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play." [link]

The Olympics started off as an event that was meaningful and united the world. Today countries would step on each other to host the event and bring in tourist revenue.

China has been accused of many things ever since the game started. They have been criticized about the Olympic opening, there have been riots over the Tibetians. The world is ready to scrutinize this country that has decided to open up.

China's Milli Vanilli might not have been such a wise decision, i mean, what are they trying to portray to the world, or rather, what are they trying to hide from the world? They believed that the image of the child should be flawless, but to cast poor little Yang Peiyi (picture right) aside was uncalled for. She's not ugly, she's not in anyway inferior and she deserves more..... if not free braces.

Although I have to say that Lin Miaoke (picture left) the lip-syncing darrliinngg of the opening is honestly too pretty and cute too boot.

Is she real??? Are you sure she's not a robot? I mean, just look at that smile.

one more for reference. my gosh, i hope if i have a daughter she'll look like her.

Martha Karolyi, the U.S. national team coordinator insinuated that China's gymnast team cheated after China took the gold in the Women's Team Gymnast finals and U.S had to settle for a silver. [link] By looking at their teeth she was suspicious that there might be foul play, but with no evidence she could not make an affirmation.

Clearly the U.S was upset as they had been reigning champions. To find themselves in second place must have been something hard to swallow. However it was obvious to the millions sitting at home and watching that the U.S gymnast team lost because they had made too many errors in their routines.

Alicia Sacramone of the U.S team tumbled off the balance beam, fell down during the floor and all of them stepped out of the mat.

At world standards, you can't make those mistakes and get away with it. Karolyi statements almost seem so sour they could curdle some of those Chinese milk teeth.

WHAT IS IT WITH PEOPLE AND TEETH ANYWAYY????

Spain's basketball team making slit-eyed face

This caused great controversy and they were accused of being racist. Tongue-in-cheek? (i mean eye-is-slits?) I guess this was not a good call either. This photo actually ran in advertisements in Spain and i question the motive behind this advertisement. They are Spanish after all, what, are they er, trying to be funny?

http://pixdaus.com/pics/flfEkMWwYSWZkkvxyz.jpg

And then of course, singaporean's just cant stop complaining. Complain about foreign talent, complain about local talent, complain about winning a medal, complain complain complain. No really, is it such a big deal that our table tennis team is from China. Is is such a big deal that Tao Li is from China? Seems that they are the only one making headlines after all d-oh.

I think in sports, everything is black and white. you either have talent or you don't, you either win or you lose. if local sportsman cannot deliver there is no reason why we should not import foreign talent. Were you not proud when you saw the Singapore flag hanging right next to China's during the award ceremony? We you not the least bit proud, that no matter where these girls were born, they had won for the medals for Singapore?

It is not to say local sportsman are not up to scratch or cannot achieve what our China born winners have. Ultimately, look at our singaporean society, look at how much emphasis we place on education and certificates. There could have been hidden talent among us who would have shone as bright as a satellite given the proper training, but i would bet my knickers that that person would have chose to take the trodden path and join the rat race.

We've won a medal Singapore. Be grateful that they Li Jia Wei and team even want to come to Singapore and represent us. Somebody wrote into the forum asking, almost challenging Singapore to send in a true blue Singaporean team to the Olympics, my question is, would that matter?

Everybody came together on Sunday as the gold medal match was playing out. Every Singaporean was rooting for the Singapore team. Now isnt that all that matters?

so i was actually there for NTU's Busines Pageant 'Preview' "Bash", Metamorphosis (METAMORPHOSIS!!!??) which wasnt much of a bash *yawn*. Not to take anything away from the contestants because im sure they put in a lot of effort but the whole line up was in need of some excitement really. The event was supposed to be from 7pm to 10pm but the preview was only from 8pm to 9pm so what was the other 2 hours for?

i went there to stick 4 stickers on Guofeng's card so that he could win Mr. Popular. In the end, he lost by 3 votes! Very unlucky! :(

M2 and Wannabe!

I must SAY that, Guofeng's competition is quite solid! Esp Lianne's brother (what a small world).

95% of the people present were the NTU biz orientation grps and i was wondering what i was doing there the whole night... the only other pageant preview i have been to was Femme Quest which a lot more exciting and entertaining. Especially the hosts, the minute they walked out you just couldnt stop staring at them. Great games and super rowdy atmosphere... Maybe i was expecting too much. Seems this event was catered specifically to the specific orientation groups, not even the NTU business students.

Anyway, after le grande affaire of The Sticking of Stickers the preview was over and we all sat there and stared at each other for a while till we decided to have supper opposite.

and then we went back in! Nobody liked the music at Zouk (except me!)but nobody wanted to pay for Phuture as we already paid for the bash admission and then everybody was as sober as a keyhole but nobody wanted to splurge on drinks either. I dont know what those guys did man...

Oh, satellite!
After a 2 hour lecture about positivism and postpositivism, i went to the com lab to ballot for my tutorials and woahh, they have upgraded to some seriously HUGH ass monitors...They're so big you'll get a headach looking at the screen for too long..

i went to visit this space to see what it would look like and OMG, the pictures are 3 times bigger than what they look like on my screen, and obviously pixelated as a result - but still very very big and scary!! Why such big screens for?

Took a train from clementi to bugis to drop off my apron for work. i am not planning on working any more..i dont know how people juggle work and studies at the same time. Dont you feel tired/lazy?!?!

Weather was crazy as usual, walked from Bugis to have Rochor tau huay, and tau huay has a lot of uric acid, do not eat too much. Havent eaten tau huay in a long long time so i cant give a verdict on wheter Rochor tau huay is the best or not. Very smooth texture though! Business was brisk at the time we went which was in the middle of no where....

No cam, so pictures all stolen from amelia :)

Amelia the new found Domestic Goddess...Looking at cook books ehhhhh

Cotton On Body

The panty says TRUE LOVE which is tacked on in black diamontes ROTFL... and blue uggs. UGGS! After that we went to Charles and Keith. Saw a pretty pair of shoes but they didnt have myself. I finally got myself a decent leather belt though, which was on offer. hallelujah. I'ld been using safety pins all this while so that my pants wouldnt drop off.

Dinner at Quick Bites (yum yum yum!) and then we sat down at the foodcourt for a while to read our free mags. I think it was a rather quiet night actually...or maybe it was just late...

OPI Kangaruby from the $4 manicure shop at FEP

Sat down again, for awhile opposite Giraffe. Very pleasant night i must say. Amelia taught me the difference between a satellite and a star and all this while i'ld been thinking that the brightest of all had to be the Big Dipper. Turns out it was just a satellite. Ah, what disappointment.

To think that some nights wishing upon a lone star, i was really wishing upon a lone satellite. No wonder my wishes never came true -_-

It is a pity that we dont have starry nights in Singapore. i guess the country is just too bright. I count myself lucky to have been able to see the most magnificent night sky over at Pulau Ubin during OBS. Hundreds and hundreds of stars i never knew existed were right up there twinkling.

Nic is out field right now in some jungle where he has to dig holes and shit in and he cant book out till next weekend... BOOOHOOO... :(

GIRL!

Lunch at Soup Spoon with the IJ girls the other day...yum! I didnt know they had such great food. Indulged in some girly girly pampering, which is not something we often do. I think manicures are super tai-tai and i have ugly nails. I chew on my nails, the polish never lasts.

$4 express manicure at Far East Plaza

i decided that my feet needed a little love so i did a pedicure. I think i need to have a foot scrub. I had one while i was in Thailand, my first ever, and boy was it a foot SCRUB. i thought that the guy (yes a man! imagine the strength) had scrubbed away all my skin and i was bleeding because it was that vigorous but i wasnt of course. My feet were so pink and soft after that and they never felt cleaner! I need another one!

Happy nail people!

Lyss and Jieying
Rox laughing at my very sad baby toe nail :(

It's so small it's even smaller than the polish brush head. Banged it off a few times, what can i do...dancers have horrid feat :(

More happy nail ppl!

At poxy's place

Had dinner at Purvis street with sam, her bf and rox before this. YUMMY CHICKEN RICE! I realised that i have walked past that area so many times but have never thought of actually walking into one of the many dinning areas lining the street to try it out. Lots of dessert places as well!

rox's familiar bedsheet that she used back in hall..

$12.80 bottle of alcohol from 7-11.

It's called GIRL, for girls only and you cant see from the pic but the bottle is PINK and GLITTERY. It's Lychee Framboise with Vodka and Cognac (25% vol) and it's SOOO crazily sweet and strong at the same time. And no i am not drunk in the next pic haha...

mambo

rox says i have a very ah lian way of smiling WHATTT. that is so not true. in what way is it ah lian ok walau!

left early with rox as we both had something on the next morning. Had supper at Spize and ordered 2 big plates of CHAR KWAY DIAO and PATTAYA mee goreng or something. omg, how's that for a midnight heart attack.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Anyway up till yesterday i only had 3 modules. i received an email titled "Concern over fulfilling academic requirement" with "high importance" from the faculty administrators. 2 days into the term and i now have 4 modules and a program account with ZERO points to boot. I hope my appeal goes through :(

More pictures from Jilyn from last Thursday. The night mode on her camera as well as Amelia's is amazing - that's the only lamentable aspect about canon. i wish i had a night mode too! :(

bright lights, head lights, arcade fire!

Thinking deep, deep thoughts......

Steamboat at the bugis area, was supposed to be a post rapture celebration which PHAILED. Not sure what this one is called but it was an air-conditioned one and it wasnt very good. There wasnt a lot of variety but, it wasnt hot and sticky so i guess it depends on what you prefer - food or comfort.

being dorky

steaming in the pots! :(

went to xwei's house after that and played a few rounds of poker with ear buds as chips and my luck was so lousy! i went into -25 ear buds deficit :( Amelia came later and we had a few more rounds of bridge! Took a cab home at 3am...the 7th month scares me, but only when i start freaking myself out about it.

Do you believe in it? Perhaps it doesnt matter if you believe if the spirits are unleashed on the earth during the 7th month or not. I think Jilyn said, you're either lucky, or very unlucky haha.

Tiramisa means 'pick me up' - Make me Happy
I still only have 3 modules for the coming semester and school starts next week. OH MY GOSH someone pleassseee help me :(

Anyway just back from Rox's house. We had a huge baking session and made Tiramisu, Strawberry Cheesecake and a butter cake! The Tiramusa turned out excellent and it was soooo good! The cheesecake on the other hand came out rather gloppy :( Recipe was from Alyssa's mum, who is a Kitchen Goddess i swear! We went to lys's place for a 'special' lunch on Sunday and her mum whipped up hell of a meal!!

Dishes consisted of Crayfish Pasta (!!), fried dumplings, fried chicken wings with hot sauce, beef ribs, mushroom vongole with puff pastry...more dishes because i remembered that the table was over flowing with food. Then we had Tiramisu and Durian Sponge Cake for dessert - all cooked by lys's mum. I think every kid would loovvee to have her mum.

yummy yummy yummy!

Caught the Mummy 2 with Nic after that and i thought...it was Ok what!!! For once, i was later than Nic (ie Nic is always late) so he got me a stalk of Stargazers :) and it's lasted the whole week. There's still 1 bud left to bloom. Love walking into my bedroom and getting a gentle whiff of these flowers as i drift off to sleep...

Ok anyway where was i!

Tiramisu!

I thought Tiramisu meant "i miss you", but it actually means "pick me up" literally and "make me happy" metaphorically. "Pick me up" ie "raise me up", "lift me up".

Ladies Fingers or Sponge fingers

Egg white beaten till fluffy. Too gorgeous for words!

Fingers dipped in coffee and Kahlua
Lined at the bottom of the dish

This is after 2 layers of coffee and Kahlua dipped fingers as well as the Mascapone cream cheese mixture. Finish off by dusting cocoa powder over it and leave in the fridge to chill!

Of course there are no pictures of the inside because rox, javier and i devoured it and cut it up. It was SOOO GOOD!!! It can rival any store bought Tiramusu.

Strawberry cheesecake without the jelly layer

my strawberries were so irregular and ugly in shape that i couldnt cut them into heart shape pieces! This turned out kinda gloopy because i added too much water into the jello and too little gelatine into the cream cheese mixture!! Ah very sad, but i guess it was still yummy...in er, a gloppy kind of way :D

Doesnt this post make you SO HUNGRY! YUMM.

Rapture 2008

SAJC's annual dance concert hits ESPLANADE again in 2008!

yay, happy shot of seniors on day 1 :) In the holding room waiting for our turn to do blocking. In the mean time, Jilyn decides to punch Xwei's face (the poor girl), Weiliang is standing by in shock and horror, I'm throwing something in Amelia's face and Amelia opens her arm for easier target.

waiting...waiting..waiting. In the mean time we were also stuffing our faces with Donuts, chocolates and cream puffs!!

Taupok!

Gordon's birthday shot. His very sweet girlfriend came down to surprise him with a cake after the day ended.

princess and batman shot.

Alumni!
it was aweeesome working with all these guys!

shall not explain these 2 photos...

DAY 2

Musa's item, Once Upon A Time.

I was there as calefare, very fun! I went on stage to "die", get dragged out and then spent the rest of the item "haunting" the little kids in black. Our dances all have very complicated story lines...

Once Upon A Time and VK's/Keisha's hiphop item - PYT (Pretty Young Things)

Gordon and I at rehearsal for Behind Closed Doors, Jil's and my item!

This year we engaged the help of 3 very strong male dancers (gordon, guofeng, chinhow) and our item became VAVAVOOM! So thankful for their help because without them our item would not have been half as exciting as it was. Super grateful because they are not even from SAJC or anything and yet agreed to help!

Well if you ever get a change to watch the performance, if it gets uploaded onto youtube or something, our dance was supposed to be about Love... sounds so cliche right but the word Love encompasses a whole lot of other things...Romance, lust, passion, seduction, sorrow, anguish, betrayal...what you can possibly feel out of a relationship. We tried to portray the darker and bleak side.

Ah what jaded choreographers we are hahah!

When the lights came on we heard the audience leering and then someone shouted "OUI!" and then there was laughter, zommggg..almost seemed like dejavu like when Scarlet Fever opened.

Guess we cant blame the audience as we were wearing what was supposed to look like lingerie and we even had 3 mattresses for props to make it look like a bedroom scene. We were aiming for maturity this year and i think we got it..?! honestly, there was nothing explicitly/sexual about the dance so the wolf whistles were very off.

stage make up

Actually it wasnt that heavy this year. I think a lot of girls go out looking like this actually.

Balloon from Once Upon A Time

A very himbo moment from Musa who forgets that you need HELIUM for the balloon to float..

Why are the boys more seductive than me?? What sluts!!! haha :)

End of the show and a random shot.

This year was extra special, because, believe it or not, the SAJC RUGGERS were dancing! Real shocker of the night, in a good way of course. The first time i saw them on stage i thought they were just going to do the hakka, pose and run off. Imagine my AMAZEMENT and disbelief when they actually started dancing choreographed steps!! I nearly died. WOWWWW. Commendable effort and i'm glad they had a chance to work with the dancers! They opened the show really nicely!

We also had reaaallyyy cute kids dancing for us! ACSI Primary and Kids on the move which has some super rockin' little girls!

Anyway for those of you who want to catch Rapture, just go to Youtube and google RAPTURE @ ESPLANADE 2008. ALl the items are up except for the alumni pieces. :/ My personal favourite items were Hot Ride, and of course to see ruggers dancing, watch the opening performance. But of course all the items looked and felt so much better in real life!

(AND YVONNE!! I SAW YOUR BF's BROTHER!)

Arcade Fire and Headlights
Post Rapture Celebration...of sorts!?

And this very good, i am keeping up my track record of being the sober one :) I think my alcohol tolerance has increased. And Nic is so awesome, he actually knows that Thursday is ladies night at Dbl O (Which for some reason i always pronounced as DIABLO hahah WTF)

Met Amelia at Raffles and cabbed down while wolfing down fries. Clubbing on weekdays are great, so much space on the dance floor yay!

The club closed at 3am and we were all like whhhatttt. that's way too early so amelia, jil and i camped outside 7-11 with instant food and got talking. we figured that between the four of us, we could start our very own Sex and the City story with a few seasons in line already. hate to use this word, but life has become so complicated...lol. the woes of growing up.

xxxxxx

Shopping with Nic's for his mum's birthday present. he ended up getting a Versace perfume and body lotion gift set. We were deciding between Gucci Envy Me but decided that it was too sweet and young.. opps. Versace is like...(tai-tai) CHIO. sidetracked on the way and we found 52 inch pants!! WHHHATT!!

Watched Money No Enough 2 and can i please say that it was really, really bad. If you think you are paying money to watch a comedy please think again because it was a really really soppy and over exaggerated melodrama. Maybe i should have took a hint when the trailer of MNE 2 was of Hendry Thia and Mark Lee in a hospital sobbing over someone's death.

Studied MNE 1 for one of my modules and i have to say that was way better. I felt Jack Neo chose to touch on more generic themes this time around which left the film less 'Singaporean' then the first one. I was hoping he would inject more distinctively Singaporean jokes into the movie but all he kept harping on was the ERP which became very dry after repeated usage.

The script was actually not bad, but the editing and directing probably needed work. It was over-acted, over exaggerated and very literal...erm but i guess you could still go and watch it because it's interesting to see how Singaporean film have evolved? I Not Stupid series is definitely better but Kelvin Tong any time of the day for me :D

I am FINALLY able to bid for my core modules today and the bidding points have sky rocketed to over a 1000 which means i probably have to forgo some of them. I am so annoyed because i thought you could bid for core modules during round 1C and have some sort of protection. Now i have to bid during round 2A where people bid for electives? Ugh, i dont want term to start...

Why don't boyfriends like their girlfriends to go clubbing?
Oh i trust you, i just dont trust alcohol...

xxxxx

I think guys who club, but do not let their girlfriends club have issues - so double standards isnt it? Boys will say it's different, it's not the same. Why? Because boys have this major big ego they need to keep inflated at all times? Or is because girls are always at the losing end and it generally just sucks to be a girl?

Bfs dont let their gfs club because they dont want other guys pawing them -

It seems to me that it is a given that guys have "the right" to paw girls in club, grind them and touch them. It is the natural system of clubbing that guys can touch anything with boobs and surround them like lusty perverts because it's a club and all the girls who go clubbing are sluts and loose.

Well that's a load of stereotypical bullcrap isnt it. I think boys fall to realize that only girls who want to be touched, get touched. Only girls who allow men to dance with them, grind them.

Asking to get laid - does your gf look like this?

And think about it, bfs dont want other guys touching their girls. In that case, channel your anger and frustration to the random guys in the club. DO NOT insinuate that your gf is a slut and a whore for going clubbing. Bfs HAVE NO RIGHT to stop their gf from going clubbing, especially if they know she goes clubbing regularly. They chose to get attached to a girl who goes clubbing so deal with it. If you dont like your gf to go clubbing go and find a broomstick. (very ironically a lot of guys meet their future girlfriends in clubs) I mean geez, not even married yet and so uptight.

Some girls are naive no doubt, some are cheap and others are just horny...but surely you know your know your own girlfriend better? And also my next point -

Bfs are scared that their gf will get drunk and do the wrong things -

Only a girl asking to get screwed will go to a club alone and by herself.

All girls have their group of girlfriends/friends who look out for each other and protect each other. If we see our friend getting harassed by a stranger do you think we will stand there and throw her a condom? Do you think we will force our friends to drink if she's getting too high? The answer is obvious, we girls look out for each other. (We dont punch friends for cock-blocking. HA.)

Happy girlfriends! (what is with these weird google photos huh)

By the way girls, if your friends dont look out for you...you probably need new friends.

Bfs are so afraid their gf will get drunk and "do the wrong thing". When bfs go clubbing i dont see their gfs getting so paranoid.

At the end of the day isnt it the chicken or the egg question? Did my girlfriend go to a club and grind some guy? Did my boyfriend go to a club and grind some girl?

Girls cannot grind another guy because it's "cheating". Guys can grind a random girl because it's just "fun".

Sincere bfs, selfish bfs -

I think it must be a male complex thing, what with the testicles and chromosomes, but next time your bf disagrees with you going clubbing, just listen to the reasons he lays out on the table.

#1: Boyfriend says, "i dont want you to get drunk and hurt yourself"

#2: Boyfriend says, "I dont want you to get drunk and do the wrong things."

Is there a difference? Yes.

Bf #1 places priority on your safety and doesnt want you to get cheated or wasted.

Bf #2 places priority on HIMSELF and just doesnt want you to do anything that could possibly affect him or make him a cuckold.

Ok i dont want to go into the trust issue which is surely the most important thing. Maybe the most saddening thing about it all is that your boyfriend doesnt trust you to make the right decisions for yourself. Your boyfriend insinuates you are a loose slut who goes to bed with random strangers which is downright insulting to a girl's dignity... And then you wonder if your boyfriend really knows who you are at all.

Guys, girls? Why? Leave a comment! Very easy and convenient comment link at the bottom of the page.
