The storybook I would love to be trapped in...
There are 2 camps; those that believe in fairy tale endings, and those that believe these endings dont exist. I think if given a choice, everyone wants to live in a fairy tale, to find their Prince Charming and get whisked away in to never-never-land....

or not.

I think im in camp number 2. fairy tale endings dont necessarily exist, things arent always "happily ever after", the good people dont always triumph, and i'm definitely not going to find out i have royal heritage one day and HEY IM A PRINCESS OMG!!!

Sidetrack..i would really love to be trapped in The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. The 1 thing i remember to this day are the toffee shocks and pop biscuits. ALWAYS wanted to try them, always started salivating when it was mentioned in the book. damn i was a fat and greedy kid. >.>

But here is something a little closer to home...something which really happened. i really got trapped in a storybook!

How is that possible right? Well let me begin...A few of the cast members from the Jewel Box Christmas Light Show did another show for Swatch, which planned the event with a very enchanted theme... Every story needs a title...so let's just call it

The Swatch Story.

(MY CREATIVITY ASTOUNDS ME SOMETIMES)

Before the story really begins...Swatch's 2009 collection revolves around 5 themes. You can only see 3 in the picture below. The 4 of us, protagonists were Sprites, each representing a season. (BTW, Sprites are something like fairies ok, not Sprite and 7-Up that Sprite OK) A very quaint tent was set up at Fort Canning where the press where to be held. They created a very unique 'fish tank' like setting to create the atmosphere of a fairy tale.

Before anything begins, the make over happens first.

Makeup artist armed with 3 suitcases full of her trusty palettes

These are just lipstick colours! Check out the blues!

and the magic begins....
using eyeshadow colours to represent the seasons

stage makeup is quite horrifying up close.

can you guess what season im supposed to be...?

quite obvious right..you only have 4 to pick from!!

After makeup, there's still the hair to settle...

lots of lots of curls!!

Half way done... *awkward smile*

The story teller (see the story book he is holding in his right hand?)
and Winter

very randomly, here is another shot of Winter

and done!
Transformed into Sprites!

So the story went something like this...Er, (this is the story teller talking)

In the Age of Sophistication, things were bountiful and the Sprites ate their fill, frolicked in the sun and were happy but wasteful. Their lavish ways ruined their kingdom and soon the earth begin to die.

It was now the Age of Rust... Having depleted their resources they had to think of a solution, to save themselves and save their kingdom. With little choice, they had to Sail Away to find another place they could call home, to find a remedy which could bring them salvation...

The journey was wroght with treacherous storms and torpedo winds. It was not long before the ship could sail no more and crashed into the rocks. Perhapes it was a blessing in disguise. When the Sprites awoke, they saw that their ship had marooned in a land where flowers grew and the birds chirped.

They got off the ship to explore and they found seeds which they could take back to their motherland. They harvested these seeds and brought them back. Soon, an Organic Explosion took place! The Sprites were overjoyed. Their plan had worked and Neon Streams started to flow....

All was back in place, and they lived happily ever after!

eh, it was something like that anyway la.

We were dancing to the story which was created around the Swatch's 2009 themes. Very cute concept! As you can see, our stage was the grass plain. The press and guests were housed in the tent/fish tank, creating a voyeuristic atmosphere, an impossible glimpse into a world beyond yours.

these are my favourite photos of the day.

They also hired some stilt walkers to the event. Looks so dreamy and fairy tale like!

OK, the next best part about the event were the refreshments. Dont you just LOVE h'ordeurves! MAN all these tiny food portions served on chi-chi china make any event seem so glamourous, even if it wasnt meant to be. No pictures of these but they were good. MMMMMMM.

Being a dancer is fun. You always have to transport yourself into another world whether you're a ballerina playing Giselle, a hip-hop dancer from Harlem, a Tap Dancer from Broadway. You have to feel it, to let your audience to believe it.

It's just like getting trapped in a story book isnt it?

Except this event, we were literally trapped in a story book. awesome fun.

and if you think you will never get the chance...then maybe this movie is for you...
