Her other videos are even funnier, but i decided to share this today because Singapore has its first confirmed case of a H1N1 virus who came back from New York on Tuesday on SQ25. ( The link leads to Philippines Star. Good on them!!) So anyway, stay far, far away from people who just came back. THEY HAVE SWINE FLU. OMG THEY HAVE SWINE FLU. (!!!!!!!!!!!) So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 ![]() ![]() And if any of you happened to see the Fame trailer in the movies you must have caught a glimpse of Kerrington from Season 4. Not my top choice but oh well. Labels: so you think you can dance
Relativity It's kinda tragic...you stop for a few years and you can just never go back to where you left off. You know how weird it is that ive done ballet for 11 years, hip hop for 4, contemp for maybe 5 years. See how that all adds up and it's an awful lot of time i devoted to dancing, so much so it made me sick for a while and i had to stop. And now when ive really stopped, my standard has dropped to the pits. I see all my dance friends excelling and rocking that dance floor on fire and my heart starts to twitch with a tinge of envy mixed with jealousy. As much as i hate to admit it, on the pretext of being stuck in past glory...it will be humbling for me to go back to dancing? i almost have to lower my head in shame as i write this, but at least i admitted it. there are a lot of things in life that i have not experienced. Death for example, is something that has elluded me my whole life. Ive never had to deal with the death of someone close and that's something i cant relate to. While i was reading a story book that my sis lent me, i realised that the paragraphs on relationships spoke to me, now. But when i read about death, i glossed through it...it didnt have any meaning for me. And that's how i realised that i am so young, so inexperience, living my semi-sheltered life from which i have only seen shiny, gift wrapped life. I almost think you can consider me one of those kids who had things handed to her on a silver platter, but i resisted that idea because there were always friends who had life way easier than me. But of course i had never met people who were on the other end of the spectrum. It was like how my father mentioned the other day, "she is so lucky, she can go on 2 holidays every year." And i was like, wow... It had never occured to me that this was a privillege, it seemed rather a way of life. You know, you work, you go on holidays. any sort of experience is valuable. that's my take on life. The other day Nic and I went to watch Helios at Marina Barrage and it turned out to be quite an irksome night. Nic turned to me and said that this experienced "sucked!", "it was a BAD idea". And i thought that yes..it wasnt maybe such a good idea but it was a good experience. and the whole point of this entry is that for the past 20 years life has been easy for me. i'ld like to think im resilient and independent but under my circumstances was that possible? Sutra ![]() I went to watch Sutra last night! Thank you Weiliang for the gala performance tickets :) This was definitely 1 of the dances in the Singapore Arts Festival program that caught my eye because of the mix of martial arts discipline and contemporary abstractness. It was a bit surreal to see Shaolin Monks wearing western suits, dancing to the live, classical ensemble. It's the East-meets-West again. Wushu has always been choreography in its own right, but there has been many a debate as to whether wushu is really a type of dance. Elements in wushu have lent themselves to traditional Chinese dance and even modern dance but is more widely viewed as a form of self-defense. Last night, nobody could say that what these Shaolin monks were doing was not dance. In a dynamic set with ingenious use of wooden boxes, which were fit together to form a maze one moment and quadraple-decker beds the next moment, it was a free flow of brilliant and carefully thought out blockings and visual spectacles. At one point it felt like i was watching a fight scene of Agent Smiths from The Matrix. The monks delivered their deft movements with quick CGI prisition, darting from behind, in between and from inside the wooden boxes. It was mind blowing and absolutely genius. It was almost as if, if you blinked you would have missed it all. If you have the opportunity to catch it, please do. Labels: Singapore Arts Festival 2009, Sutra

Very sad!! My camera died halfway through :(Cheryl's 21st ![]() ![]() As we speak, Cheryl is touring Europe with her family now omg jealous. I think i think i should psych my mum into going to europe because air tickets are at their lowest of lows now! Or at least that's what the newspapers claim. She already expressed that she doesnt mind (!!!!) but the long haul flight it putting her off. ![]() MMM dinner with a view Quote of the day: IJ girls make themselves at home anywhere! AND we are also VERY GREEDY. We ordered a Fish Head Curry because we wanted to eat it (up all by ourselves) Who goes to someone's party and orders extra food!! We also gobbled up all the satay, pizza and whatever was put in front of us. ![]() Cheryl's doorgifts ![]() ![]() random ![]() I should really learn how to work the manual mode on my cam haha. The things I want to do with my family! As you guys know, my family has grown considerably over the years. First came the 2 brother in laws, very much successively - and now i have 3 nephews. Yes my sisters are so busy right? They've moved out and have totally different lives now so we dont see each other as often as we used to - which was everyday la, but you know what i mean. ![]() Sis's wedding, and she truly looked stunning that day....and my dad in a suit!
![]() My mom's birthday 2007 That was Andrew then...this is Andrew now. ![]() mom's birthday 2008 In conjunction with National Family Celebrations ‘09, here are the things that I would like my whole family to be able to do together! 1. Celebrate Birthdays together Sometimes, you think its a given, but when your children/sisters move out you start to really cherish such occasions when everyone actually puts aside whatever they had on and get together for a meal. The air is festive and there's so much noise! Just recently we celebrated my father's birthday at Prima Deli Revolving Tower, and yes it revolves. omg it is quite nauseating by the way, but you should try it out sometime. the food is damn good, and how many times do you get to eat in a REVOLVING TOWER! ![]() ![]() Grand Dad & Grand Son - See how happy my dad is - I think Andrew looks way more amused but that's 6 big candles and 1 small one on his cake! ![]() This is my mum trying to pinch the life out of Andrew's cheeks. Andrew doesnt look to pleased. ![]() ![]() ![]() The many faces of Issac, my 2nd nephew. (middle one cracks me up the most) and then Nat my 3rd nephew. (im going to loose count soon!) ![]() We had a good, filling dinner mmmm. ![]() but of course, nothing was better than the fact that we were all celebrating it together!
BUT, ever since my sisters married, it's just my parents and us now. just a table for 3, no longer a table for 5. Sometimes my eldest sister joins us, but it's really just not the same anymore. 3. Go on holidays together The LAST time my entire family went for a holiday together was all the way back when i was 10 years old, which would make than 1998 thereabouts(!!!) We went to Beijing and have vague memories of some family photos. After that, my father never wanted to fly anywhere, my sisters started working, my sisters got pregnant, my sisters had babies to look after and there never was another chance. ![]() ![]()
well, that's it. 3 very simple things that i would like to be able to do with my family. Mostly, i just wish it was the same as it were last time, but things change. Your children get married, move our, have their own kids and lead their own lives. Aye, sucks to be an "only child" now. ![]() My family isnt the sort of super close knit family, more of the silent support type. but no matter what type of family you have, they are the only people in this world who will truly stick by you no matter what. $50 for 9 prawns Tourists complain of $239 for 8 tiger prawns. At least their prawns are tiger prawns, and cooked properly for them. When it comes down to the math, why would anyone want to spend $30 to catch like 8 prawns (if you're lucky) in 3 hours? Yet everybody still does it! And there's always this pro ah pek there who catches 1 prawn every 5 minutes while you sit next to him thinking, DAMN, why dont i get anything!!! Always. Went prawning yesterday with the dancers and got my biggest catch!! we caught 9 prawns for $50 lolX10. XWei and i were stuffing our faces with the food there MMMM. very good. I would go there again to pig out and catch $50 plate of prawns. Labels: $239 for 8 tiger prawns, $50 for 9 prawns, prawning

I am so lazy to transfer the photos from my camera to my computer!!Anyway i am back from Malaysia, i went there over the weekend and i have to say that KL IS S C O R C H I N G. Man, i nearly died. You know Singaporeans have this thing with air-conditioners, Singaporeans cannot live without their air-conditioning. Well hell yeah man. With temperatures blazing like hell it's no wonder. CNA claims that the temperature in KL was 24 degrees celsius yesterday but it sure felt like it was 32 degrees. It was SO HOT my mother's newly bought bottle molasses bubbled and exploded - ok i exaggerate a bit but the molasses DID BUBBLE and messed up the plastic bag. I mostly pigged out on a lot of food and bought a lot of skincare products. Visited relatives in Ipoh and KL whom i do not know about. Very disconnected from the Malaysian side of my family since...they are like an 8 hour drive away!! Poor daddy drove so much. I almost wanted to volunteer to drive, but since my Mom didnt, i assume it wasnt a good idea to. The other thing that i missed, besides the cool weather, was Mee Siam. I mean like they always sell Mee Siam at Malay stalls in Singapore right, but NOBODY in Malaysia sells Mee siam!!! AHH, i was so sad. Why like that. :( I read somewhere that Mee Siam has as much sugar as a can of soft drink. Woah, is this true? Could this possibly be why i love mee siam so much? MMM thinking of it is making me hungy already... Anyway check this out, SO CUTE. ![]() Labels: marc by marc jacobs skinny bangle, mee siam

Exams are finally over! Today's paper was kind of foul but its over, finally. However, "holidays" are never really holidays. Uni kids scrambling and hustling to find an internship somewhere, which i failed to do so i am GOING TO HAVE A HOLIDAY. This will be a REAL HOLIDAY. Cheryl please do India this year because next year i'll be scrambling hardcore for an internship. -_-Ramen Girl ![]() Went to catch Ramen Girl with Smelly and I think everyone should watch it! I dont know, i like the lost in translation, east-meets-west idiosyncrasies. Quite typical...but it reminded me of some things... It's like how westerners can drop everything in life and pursue music, pursue arts, pursue acting. Pursue all these airy fairy things and live each day from hand to mouth, just to be able to say they lived the life they wanted to. Can you tell people you want to pursue music in Singapore? I can think of all the raised eyebrows...Really? You want to do music? So you gonna be poor and unaccomplished your whole life huh? The Japanese? They join the working class, 9 to 5 at a cubicle. Get married, have kids, have grand children and die. This doesnt sound any better either. Mmm yes. Somehow i think my life will be like that too, but it's not that it's 'not' the life i want. It's the life that we've been programmed to want. At some point in life, you start to wonder how life can be so vacuous. What's the point of going full circle to end up no where in the end. You watch your kids grow up and leave you...then what? Going off to Malaysia tomorrow... Timing cant be any worse because apart from Sam's birthday, i am also missing training for a potential job which pays $10.33/hour. LE SIGH. Have been "putting off" this trip for rather long and my dad has decided that its time i go visit my paternal grandma and another relative with cervical cancer. The car is going to be my next best friend for the next few days. o.0 What am i going to busy myself with. Sorry Sam i cant make it for your party, i REALLY WANTED TO GOOO. please take lots of pictures, i will photoshop myself in!!!!!! Enjoy yourself, dont get seasick!!! And hope you like your present too cuz Rox and i spent very long looking for it! Labels: Ramen Girl

I went to catch Wolverine with my sis yesterday it was PRETTY DAMN GOOD if i must say so. Of course this is coming from somebody who does not follow the comics religiously but i enjoyed it thoroughly. One of the reasons being GAMBIT!!!Wolverine Gambit and Rouge were my favourite characters back in the 90s when they were still screening X-men cartoons. Not the new Xmen Revolution cartoon, but the old, plain and good X-men cartoon that still had Gambit and did away with the weird frog-like villain in X-men Revolution. Animation was still 2D but it was still awesome!! That is how i will remember the X-men for life. ![]() Gambit is still as suave with the devil may care attitude. hawt. ![]() I never fail to wonder why Gambit was excluded from the X-men movie series and Anna Parquin does such a disfavor to Rogue. Rogue was HOT in the cartoon and she was a rebel, which meant that Gambit and Rogue were totally a match made in heaven. Anna Parquin is bleh.... Ok random. Wolverine was good overall, plot could have been fleshed out a little more, Hugh Jackman could not have looked better (for this i think Rox will appreciate his topless scenes..of which there are many) and I love all these CGI effects.
