This year I managed to hit Chinatown to join in the festivities and even managed to see the fireworks during the CNY countdown. It was POURING then but we managed to buy ponchos, so while everyone was cowering under their umbrellas, we were walking around #likeaboss feeling extremely invincible.
All the stalls were trying to clear their stock so on the day before CNY eve, vendors were selling boxes of mochi at Buy 5 get 8 free. On CNY eve itself, they were going for $10 a plastic bag where you could stuff as many boxes as you could into that plastic bag. In the end we managed to get 21 boxes of mochi for $10 and were on a CNY high for being #SoSingaporean.
